Sachiko Kanenobu

Roadrunner Tours is proud to present Sachiko Kanenobu, live in Australia for the very first time!

Sachiko Kanenobu is widely regarded as Japan’s first female folk-rock singer-songwriter. Discovered as a precocious 18-year-old and signed in 1968 by Japan's first independent record label, URC (Underground Record Club), Kanenobu released her debut album Misora in 1972. Produced by Haruomi Hosono (Yellow Magic Orchestra, Happy End) and featuring a collection of ethereal folk gems, the album has since become a cult favourite among folk lovers worldwide. Now 77, Kanenobu continues to perform and tour across the globe. Misora was reissued by the acclaimed label Light in the Attic in 2019, and its track “Aoi Sakana” (Blue Fish) was featured in the soundtrack for Wim Wenders’ Oscar-nominated 2024 film Perfect Days.

Sachiko Kanenobu will make her Australian debut in February 2026, performing as a duo with Jordan Burgis on piano.
